This position is responsible for the quality and availability of information stored within the Firm`s systems by managing the analysis, planning, organization, control and administration of data. Establishing standards for data management will enable the Firm to move forward and integrates firms\\\' legacy applications with newer software platforms to better meet the of the Firm.


Responsibilities
  • Responsible for analysis, design, maintenance and documentation for logical data models, data dictionaries, and business rules repositories. Support the development of integrated information systems and an effective global end-user environment.
  • Recommend, define, design, and implement application data architecture and maintain standards for Firm-wide data structures.
  • Provide direction, input and support to application developers and DBAs on application databases.
  • Planning, control and management of Firm data architecture design and integration; coordinate the development of data models and other logical data structures to minimize redundancy and maximize the compatibility of data among physical constructs; assess, review and authenticate data models and logical database design.
  • Serve as a team lead or project manager in the integration of solutions and the construction of logical database designs.
  • Responsible for technical design and product selection recommendations for database and related tools for projects or departments. Involvement with project team members to determine appropriate requirements and Firm-wide standards.
  • Lead business information modeling for large, complex projects.
  • Ensure that project information architecture conforms to Firm-wide information architecture or recommends appropriate changes to Firm-wide information architecture.
  • Develop long-range and short-term plans for data planning and administration that support Firm-wide plans and goals.
  • Develop end-user and technical documentation reflecting the nature, organization, purpose, and uses of Firm`s data resources to aid users in the understanding of available Firm data and to aid the development of databases that support integrated information systems


Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor`s degree or equivalent experience

Technical Skills and Prior Experience:

  • Minimum of five years database administration or enterprise data architecture
  • Previous experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
  • Microsoft SQL Server and Informix, including performance & tuning; database replication and log shipping
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft .NET Application Development Platform
  • ETL and EAI tools, including SharePoint, BizTalk, IntApp
  • Working Knowledge of multiple operating systems (AIX, Windows)
  • Working knowledge of DB modeling tools, such as Embarcadero ER Studio, CA Erwin Modeler Additional Abilities and Aptitudes
  • Lead or work on a variety of virtual teams with members of multiple groups to provide sign-off on database design
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Communicate in a professional manner in person and in email when interacting with team members and customers
  • Provide guidance to less-experienced team members while continuing to utilize other staff for technical assistance
  • Work independently on complex tasks with minimal technical and management guidance
  • Work as the project leader for complex database or integration projects and provide task direction to achieve project goals
  • Deliver regular status updates to project team and management
  • Follow up on outstanding issues with project team and management
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to group processes and technology solutions, i.e.., monitoring standards, change/problem management
  • Assist in producing and maintaining detailed technical documentation for all assigned tasks and projects, (e.g.., Visio architectural diagrams, database entity relationships and support procedures)
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex database or integration incidents or problems
  • Help form project schedules and timelines, working to ensure deadlines are met
  • Utilize change management system by initiating and tracking all eligible changes to the environment
  • Utilize problem management system by entering all eligible problems and documenting the resolution in the system
